What is Brow lift Surgery?
Brow lift surgery, also sometimes referred to as a “forehead lift”, is a cosmetic procedure designed to raise and reposition the eyebrows. The goal is to create a more youthful, refreshed, and relaxed appearance by correcting sagging brows and smoothing forehead wrinkles.
As we age, the skin loses elasticity and the muscles around the forehead weaken. This can cause the eyebrows to droop, horizontal forehead lines to deepen, and frown lines (between the eyebrows) to become more noticeable. A brow lift addresses these concerns by lifting the brow area and tightening the underlying tissues.
At Valespring Cosmetic Surgery Institute, Dr. Stephanie Dreckmann will develop a surgical plan tailored to your facial anatomy and aesthetic goals. As a board-certified, highly skilled plastic surgeon, Dr. Dreckmann specializes in brow lift surgery in Toronto and the surrounding area, helping patients achieve natural-looking, balanced results.

A Brow lift Surgery Overview
Procedure
- The procedure usually takes about 1–2 hours, depending on the technique used and the extent of brow correction needed.
- Small incisions are typically made above the eyebrows (direct brow lift) or within the hairline near the temples (temporal brow lift), allowing the surgeon to lift and reposition the brow area, adjust underlying tissues, and create a more refreshed and youthful appearance.
- Additional procedures, such as eyelid surgery or other facial treatments, may be performed at the same time and can extend the overall surgery time.
Anesthesia
- General Anesthesia is most commonly used so that the patient is fully asleep for the procedure.
- Some cases are eligible for local anesthesia
Recovery
- A few days to 1 week off work or social activities is generally recommended to allow swelling and bruising around the brow area to improve (sometimes longer).
- Strenuous exercise, heavy lifting, and intense physical activity should be avoided for about 4 weeks to support proper healing and prevent increased swelling.
- A dressing or bandage may be applied after surgery to protect the incision area and help reduce swelling during the initial healing phase.
Types of Brow Lifts We Offer
Direct Brow Lift
(Surgical Treatment)
A Direct Brow Lift is a surgical procedure designed to correct noticeable brow drooping and improve eyebrow position. During the procedure, a small incision is made just above the eyebrows, allowing the surgeon to carefully lift and reposition the brow for a more balanced and refreshed appearance.
This technique is ideal for patients looking for long-lasting and more significant brow lifting results. A direct brow lift can help reduce a heavy or tired look in the upper face while improving facial harmony.
The procedure usually takes about 1–2 hours, and results are long-lasting.
Temporal Brow Lift (Lateral Brow Lift)
(Surgical Treatment)
A Temporal Brow Lift, also known as a lateral brow lift, focuses on lifting the outer portion of the eyebrows. Small incisions are usually made within the hairline near the temples, allowing the surgeon to gently elevate the outer brow area.
This technique is ideal for patients experiencing sagging in the outer brow, which can create heaviness around the eyes. A temporal brow lift helps open the eye area and create a more youthful and refreshed look.
The procedure is generally less invasive than a full brow lift and can be combined with other facial treatments if needed.
Botox Brow Lift
(Non-surgical Brow Lift)
A Botox brow lift is a non-surgical brow lift treatment that lifts the eyebrows by relaxing the muscles that pull the brows downward. This is an excellent option for brow lifting with minimal risk and downtime.
By carefully placing Botox in specific areas of the forehead and around the eyes, the brow can elevate slightly, creating a more open and refreshed appearance. This technique helps soften forehead lines and frown lines while subtly enhancing the natural brow shape.
It is ideal for patients with mild to moderate brow drooping who want a quick, minimally invasive alternative to surgical brow lift procedures.

FAQs about Brow Lifts
What is a brow lift?
A brow lift is a cosmetic procedure designed to raise sagging eyebrows and improve the appearance of the upper face. It helps reduce forehead wrinkles, soften frown lines, and create a more youthful, refreshed look.
Who is a good candidate for a brow lift?
Good candidates for a brow lift procedure are individuals who have drooping eyebrows, deep forehead lines, or a tired appearance around the eyes. Patients in good overall health who want to improve the position of their eyebrows may benefit from brow lift treatment.
What are the types of brow lift treatments?
There are both surgical and non-surgical brow lift options. Surgical procedures include direct brow lift and temporal brow lift, while non-surgical treatments such as a Botox brow lift can provide a subtle lifting effect without surgery.
How long does a brow lift procedure take?
A surgical brow lift surgery typically takes about 1–2 hours, depending on the technique used. Non-surgical treatments like Botox brow lift usually take 10–20 minutes and require minimal downtime.
How long do brow lift results last?
Results from a surgical brow lift are long-lasting and can last for many years. A Botox brow lift, on the other hand, usually lasts about 3–4 months and may require maintenance treatments.
Is there downtime after a brow lift?
Recovery depends on the type of brow lift treatment. Surgical brow lift procedures may require 1–2 weeks of recovery, while a non-surgical Botox brow lift typically allows patients to return to normal activities the same day.
Can a brow lift improve forehead wrinkles?
Yes. A brow lift can help reduce the appearance of forehead lines and frown lines while lifting the eyebrows to create a smoother and more youthful upper face.
What is an endoscopic brow lift?
An endoscopic brow lift is a minimally invasive surgical technique used to elevate and reposition the eyebrows using a series of small, well-hidden incisions placed within the hairline. Instead of making a longer incision across the scalp, this approach uses a thin camera (endoscope) and specialized instruments to visualize and adjust the underlying tissues with precision.
During the procedure, the forehead tissues are gently lifted, and the muscles responsible for frown lines and brow descent can be modified to create a smoother, more refreshed appearance. The brow is then secured in a higher, more youthful position.
One of the main advantages of an endoscopic brow lift is that it typically results in less scarring, reduced swelling, and a faster recovery compared to traditional brow lift techniques. It is often best suited for patients with mild to moderate brow drooping who want a natural-looking improvement without more extensive surgery.
Your surgeon will determine whether an endoscopic brow lift is the right approach based on your anatomy, degree of brow descent, and overall aesthetic goals.
